It is in a context marked by uncertainty, the resurgence of crises, and the combinatorics of potential risks impacting globalized supply chains, that the Chair organized its second seminar of the year 2025, bringing together about thirty participants, including experts and risk managers from its 5 industrial partners, as well as researchers from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées,  and other external stakeholders.

The seminar took place in the heart of the School's campus in Champs sur Marne, with  the traditional sharing of feedback from partners on the theme of risk, a prefiguration workshop for the Chair's research project around an intelligent risk monitoring tool, external insights from speakers from various sectors (research,  military, industrial, tech & data...).

Diversity of risks addressed in the seminar

The risks in the Supply Chain are multiple and interconnected, impacting operations significantly.

  • Supplier risks : Monitor delays, financial health and capacity issues to avoid disruptions.
  • Climate risks : Anticipate the impacts of rising sea levels, droughts, storms and floods on logistics infrastructure.
  • Geopolitical risks : Keeping an eye on tensions in Russia and anticipating potential impacts with China or the United States.
  • Health and social risks : Learning from pandemics like COVID and strike movements on business continuity.
  • Uncertainty Management : Accept uncertainty and plan for various extreme scenarios to better anticipate.

What practices for a resilient Supply Chain?

Culture of agility: Adopt a flexible and adaptable approach, with short product lifecycles to meet volatile demand.

Double Sourcing : Ensure business continuity by diversifying supply sources to have a backup when needed.

Modeling and scripting: Use modeling tools to visualize the value chain, manage economic risks, and anticipate impacts.

Committed experts

The seminar included interventions by industrial, academic, researcher and technology experts.

  • Industrial insights : Schneider Electric, Argon&Co Australie.
  • Insights, tools and technologies: UTOPIES, QuantCube.
  • Military/Defense insights.
  • Research insights : CNRS - ENPC – LATTS : Valérie November - Director of Research at CNRS - LATTS (Labo Techniques, Territories and Societies) - Risks & Territories; ENPC - HM&Co : Pierre-Antoine Versini - Researcher HM&Co (Labo Hydrology Weather forecast & Complexity).
