CHAIR’S MISSIONS

Why create a supply chain for the future chair at School of Ponts ParisTech?

CONTEXTE

  • In an environment of increasing globalization and ever-increasing demands in terms of services, the supply chain has become in two decades one of the major functions of a company.
  • The four partners of the chair, the group Casino (represented by Cdiscount), Louis Vuitton, Michelin and Renault, four companies considered among the most advanced in a number of supply chain practices, share their thoughts on the new challenges of supply ecosystems in terms of performance costs/stocks/services but also in terms of sustainability and green transformation of operations. Among the key questions, the optimisation of the supply chain taking into account the environmental impact and the impact of new technologies : internet of things, data sciences, blockchain, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing...
  • Thus those challenges of the supply chain of the future appear to be highly dependent on the ability to integrate these technological developments and to define new appropriate uses, all this in a sustainable and environmentally friendly perspective.

THE CHAIR’S ANSWER

  • Through this Chair, the four partners companies intend to further increase their skills, in a process of innovation, agility and green transformation of operations, with the following objectives :
    • Optimize customer experience and satisfaction.
    • Improve profitability in production and distribution.
    • Better orchestrate operations from suppliers to stores.
    • Integrate new HR skills and improve working conditions.
    • Support the sustainable development and CSR strategies of their respectives organizations.

  • The École des Ponts ParisTech brings to the Chair its expertise through its teaching departments (Industrial engineering / Mathematical and computing engineering / Economics Management Finance...), its research laboratories including CERMICS and the d.school (for its design thinking expertise).
